Verizon Smart Stores make holograms with PLTW

PLTW - Verizon Innovative Learning Labs comboWe are excited to see our Litiholo Hologram Kits being put to great work at a Verizon Smart Store near you!  Through the efforts of Project Lead the Way and Verizon Innovative Learning Labs, kids ages 10-14 will get some very unique hands-on experience learning about and making their own holograms.  Over 100+ Verizon Innovative Learning Labs sessions will be scheduled from Seattle to New York, with the first ones starting Oct. 14.  Check here for the current schedule and to see if there is a hologram-making session near you.

The sessions are entitled “Holography,” with the following description:

Have your kids ever wondered how holograms work? In the Holography activity, kids use laser lights and hologram film to create a hologram of their own. They will also use a holographic pyramid to view their own images and videos projected so that they appear three dimensional. At the end of the session, participants will take home their hologram and their pyramid so they can continue to explore the world of holograms at home!

The program combines real holograms, made with our Hologram Kits and our unique “Instant Hologram” Film, together with some of the recent “hologram pyramid” fad that has taken over the internet.  In the end, it should be a great experience for the kids participating and a great STEM learning opportunity outside the classroom.  We’ve always said that part of our mission at Litiholo was to help grow the next generation of holographic engineers, and hats off to PLTW and Verizon for helping make that happen!

Project Lead The Way is a nonprofit organization that provides a transformative learning experience for K-12 students and teachers across the U.S. We create an engaging classroom environment unlike any other. PLTW empowers students to develop and apply in-demand, transportable skills by exploring real-world challenges. Through our pathways in computer science, engineering, and biomedical science, students not only learn technical skills, but also learn to solve problems, think critically and creatively, communicate, and collaborate. We also provide teachers with the training, resources, and support they need to engage students in real-world learning.

Verizon Innovative Learning, through its Verizon Wireless retail stores, is giving kids the opportunity to explore technology and learn new skills through hands-on, experiential technology workshops for elementary and middle schools students (ages 8-12). Designed to foster greater student interest in STEM subjects, workshops expose students to topics like virtual reality, 3D design and printing, robotics, coding and more.
